The UK government has committed to drive towards net zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
To meet net zero CO2 there is a drive to decarbonise industry. For some applications the switch can easily be made to electrification. This will not remove the reliance in some processes which will require the ability to provide and fire burners on gas.
The initial drive is to have the gas quality standards changed. Allowing up to 20% hydrogen blended into the main natural gas supply. This change in the gas quality standards (pending trials) will have no or very little impact on current infrastructure and connected equipment.
In the longer term if we are to meet the 2050 commitments the percentage of hydrogen will need to increase past 20%.
Duomo (UK) are proud to support both Therser and Lucideon in this endeavour. Providing combustion equipment and the enabling of both the 20% trials and their new 100% hydrogen unit.
Duomo also supplied a hydrogen gas detection system. Designed to provide an extra level of safety and alarm well below the LEL. The sensors were for our SG895 range which are built into ATEX enclosures.
