Duomo and Gas Safety Week 2017

Duomo (UK) Ltd get on board with Gas Safety Week

Gas Safety Week is here and Duomo (UK) Ltd as a supplier of Gas Control & Safety equipment are getting on board with spreading some key messages. It is common knowledge that carbon Monoxide is a ‘silent killer’. Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. Duomo supply a number of different products that can help detect and protect from this potentially fatal gas.

  • The CHCO Natural Gas & Carbon Monoxide Sensor – The CHCO is a dual sensor, gas and carbon monoxide detector. When gas and/or carbon monoxide are sensed the detector sounds an on-board audible alarm and changes over a volt free contact relating to the type of gas sensed. These relays can be used to isolate the electrical supply to gas solenoid valves or to give a remote indication of an alarm.
  • GS920 Natural Gas or LPG Detector – The GS920 senses methane, LPG and butane leaks through a catalytic sensor placed inside, with a sensitivity of intervention calibrated at 10% of inferior limit of explosion. It can operate, through an incorporated relay, electronic valves, sirens and every other signal device or alarm resolution. A series of technical developments make this gas leak sensor extremely versatile, reliable, precise and secure.
  • Gas Proving Systems KS22 V6 – The Duomo Trio SafeStart (KS22 V6) securely isolates and safely re-establishes the gas supply to any area which relies on manual isolation of gas outlets. Used in hotels, fast-food restaurants, schools, colleges and canteens throughout Europe, the Trio SafeStart protects personnel and property from damage caused by gas leaks.

Although Gas Safety Week is heavily focused within domestic gas appliances, we should also remember that commercial and industrial gas appliances that can be found in buildings such as hotels and schools have equally dangerous consequences if not installed, commissioned and serviced properly.

Top Tips

  1. Once your own engineers have installed Duomo equipment according to the manufacturer’s instructions given in the data sheets, Duomo engineers can attend site to check the installation thoroughly and certify that the equipment is fit to use.  A certificate is issued and our work is fully warranted
  2. We recommend gas safety products are serviced at least every 12 months to certify the products continue to be fit for use and to ensure efficacy. Our qualified team of engineers are available nationwide to provide this service. Duomo products are optimum calibrated before they leave us to ensure they will perform once installed correctly.  Over time, some of these products are affected by the local environment and in order to continue to perform correctly, need regular servicing by the original equipment manufacturers.  This is sometimes required by Insurance companies to maximise efficacy and minimise risk. Speak with our Technical Manager Nick Perry today on 01905 797989 to find out more about servicing options.
  3. Know the six main signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning – headaches, dizziness, breathlessness nausea, collapse and loss of consciousness.
